On hearing the sad news that Olivia, who Alan has first met 10 years earlier, was to have her leg, pelvis and half her hip amputated due to the awful cancer she was suffering with, he knew straight away that he had to do something to help.  After some thought Alan came up with the idea of organising a 100 mile non-stop carriage drive from Layer Breton near Colchester to Fakenham Race Course in Norfolk.  He never knew that it would raise anything like the final amount that it did!!

The whole of the May bank holiday weekend wad dedicated to raising money for Olivia to help buy her a prosthetic leg.  So many people got behind the initial idea and the community spirt was just incredible, but a special thanks to Mark and Kerry King the landlords of the Hare and Hounds pub in Layer Breton, where the carriage drive was started from by Bob Champion MBE, himself a cancer survivor.

The carriage drive itself ran smoothly due to the great team of helpers, transporting horses etc, although it rained hard all through the night!

The reception received at Fakenham Racecourse in Norfolk was outstanding, they received the loudest cheer of the day when the horses cantered past the winning post, horses just as fresh as they were for the first mile!

The carriage drive and other events raised a staggering £62,750.00 for Olivia who is recovering well and making great progress.
